Dr. Dinorah Friedmann-Morvinski

Dr. Dinorah Friedmann-Morvinski is a senior lecturer at TAU’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the George S. Wise Faculty of Life Science and is a member of the Sagol School of Neuroscience. Her research focuses on glioblastoma (GBM), one of the most heterogeneous and aggressive human brain tumors. Her lab seeks to understand how tumor cells change their differentiation state, also referred to as tumor plasticity, and take advantage of this process to generate tumor heterogeneity and a constant pool of cancer stem cells/cancer propagating cells. She also seeks to understand the role of the tumor microenvironment in this process, and elucidate the cross-talk between tumor cells and non-transformed cells.

She believes that understanding these mechanisms and interactions will facilitate the development of novel strategies (currently her labs focus is nanomedicine and immunotherapy) to attack this aggressive type of cancer.

Dr. Friedmann-Morvinski was born in Montevideo, Uruguay where she obtained her B.Sc. in Biochemistry. She completed her postdoctoral research at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, USA. She holds an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Ph.D. in Immunology at the Weizmann Institute of Science.
